The lack of clear market needs, ineffective corporate collaboration, and inefficient marketing in Japan’s smart city infrastructure exports risk isolating its environmental and energy technologies from the global market.

Approach

Initiation of the Smart City Project.

e-solutions launched the Smart City Project (SCP), a consortium of 27 leading companies from various smart city-related fields. Within SCP, smart cities were defined using a five-layer framework, and solutions were categorized into 10 domains, providing clarity on the role and positioning of each company’s contributions.
