Issue
New market development for innovative air purifiers.
A major domestic manufacturer developed an innovative air purifier capable of deactivating not only bacteria and viruses in enclosed spaces but also surface bacteria. While conventional air purifiers were primarily designed for household use, the superior functionality of this product was utilized as a differentiating factor to promote its adoption in the corporate market.
Approach
Developing new strategies for market expansion.
Positioning all “enclosed spaces” as a potential market, efforts were made to promote adoption in the corporate sector. The market size was estimated at approximately 2.5 trillion yen, with applications spanning industries such as automotive, railways, real estate, aviation, food, retail, and healthcare. Additionally, through interviews with key segments, the following five solutions were developed and proposed: countermeasures for new influenza strains, mitigation of productivity loss due to allergens, mold control in lodging and dining facilities, odor removal in e-commerce distribution centers, and infection prevention in restaurants.
