Issue
The increasing overseas drain of base metals.
Amid the recent decarbonization movement, the export of base metal scrap for recycling has been increasing, leading to a growing need for Japan to import primary metals. However, recycling base metals like aluminum can reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 97% compared to producing new primary metal, offering both environmental and economic advantages.
Approach
Creating a new hub for the recycling industry in Toyama to drive sustainable development.
e-solutions is promoting collaboration between industry, government, and academia in Toyama Prefecture to establish a new regional industrial hub aimed at recycling aluminum scrap domestically and transforming it into environmentally valuable products.
