Issue
Enhancing safety and convenience in tourist destinations as a pathway to Japan’s economic recovery.
Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, while many industries suffered, Japan’s tourism sector was recognized as crucial for economic recovery. Nevertheless, even Mount Fuji, a national symbol, struggled with issues like an increase in hasty climbers and insufficient payment methods.
Approach
顔認証と事前登録を
活用した観光地システム
We proposed a pilot project to Shizuoka Prefecture, local tourism operators, and companies specializing in biometric technology to create safe and secure tourist destinations. By introducing a system where climbers pre-register their facial photos and PCR negative certificates, we enabled identity verification and payments via facial recognition at trailheads and mountain huts, establishing a safer and more convenient tourism environment.
