Issue
The significant amount of food loss in Japan.
In Japan, out of approximately 17 million tons of food waste, around 5 to 8 million tons are classified as food loss. One contributing factor is the lack of sharing of information regarding purchasing histories and consumer behavior at the retail level with upstream wholesalers and manufacturers.
Approach
Development of new business initiatives and implementation of information-sharing assets.
e-solutions investigated the causes of food loss at each stage of the supply chain, including retail, wholesale, and manufacturing. Alongside proposing new business models to reduce food loss and waste for individual companies, we also provided execution support to create opportunities for implementing IT companies’ assets.
